Winter 2006-2007

Christ Community (Apollo Beach, Fla.) is developing slowly but steadily. The first phase has been to meet people and establish a presence in the community. Rev. Charlie Lewis reports that they plan to begin a worship service on Sunday nights in February.

Rev. Mike Basie, formerly a church planting intern for ONA, was ordained and installed as associate pastor of Pisgah ARP Church in Gastonia, NC, Oct. 29.

Skybrook Fellowship, Asheville, NC, Rev. David Corley was ordained and commissioned as mission developer on Nov. 26. Skybrook Fellowship is a mission of First Presbytery.

Christ Fellowship, Asheville, NC, Rev. Michael Tanner Cline was ordained and installed on Nov. 5 as pastor. Christ Fellowship is a redevelopment work of First Presbytery.

Rev. Joseph S. Moore, former ONA intern, was installed as pastor of Adams Farm Community Church, Jamestown, NC, on Nov. 12.

Indian Land area, SC, people from four ARP churches met for a concert of prayer on Dec. 7 to pray for a potential mission in the Indian Land area between Lancaster, SC and Charlotte, NC. Catawba Presbytery church extension committee is seeking to develop a prayer team from Lancaster area churches, and hopefully from some other nearby churches as well, to pray for this potential mission work.

Good News Presbyterian Church, was organized as a particular congregation on Sunday, Dec. 3, 10:30 am at Tuscanora Elementary School in Frederick, MD. Rev. Peter Kemeny, the mission developer, was installed as the pastor and the first class of elders, Tom Fortney, Randy Livingston, and David Slaughter, were installed.

Fall 2006

Rev. Zachary Kariuki reports that The African Mission has grown to about 20 regular attendees. Their Sunday service meets from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Back Creek ARP Church in Charlotte, N.C.

Good News Presbyterian Church, Frederick, Md., reports that over 65 children attended their summer outreach soccer & Bible camp on July 10-14. Staffed by 2 coaches, a Bible teacher, and 11 helpers, the free soccer camp attracted many children from outside the church. The combination of instruction in athletics, sportsmanship, and Bible was appreciated by children and parents alike.

DaySpring Church, Lewisville, N.C., near Winston-Salem, has found a new temporary home at Southwest Elementary School and began meeting there July 9.

Hope Presbyterian Church, Pearland, Texas, has completed a fundraising campaign for a land/building fund. They are happy to report pledges of over $130,000 for the next two years.

All Saints ARP, Charlotte, N.C., and Rehobeth Presbyterian, Waxhaw, N.C., have now organized. We praise God for prospering these works.

New mission works include: Iranian Christian Church of Washington, D.C.; Skybrook Mission, Huntersville, N.C.; New Millennium Community Church, Lithonia, Ga.; a new work in Cumming, Ga.; Travelers ARP Church, Travelers Rest, S.C.

Church Move

DaySpring ARP, Salisbury, NC, has moved to 3875 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, right up the road from the former location. This building can be used 7 days a week and includes space for an office, nursery, classrooms, a fellowship area, a worship area, and much more. It is strategically located on a major highway near a busy intersection. Attendance is growing and visitors are present every Sunday.

First Members

Denver ARP Church in Denver, NC received its first members on February 7. Tentative plans are for morning worship to begin on Easter Sunday. The worship services have moved to a larger room to accommodate growing attendance.
