OUTREACH Prayer Update January 1, 2007

Our church planters depend on the prayers and encouragement of God’s people. OUTREACH NORTH AMERICA provides this monthly prayer letter to inform you of some of their specific needs and praises so you will know better how to pray for them. Thank you for your prayers and the interest you show by your phone and e-mail responses. Your prayers truly encourage your church planters.

In general—

This is Evangelism Emphasis Month in our denomination. Pray for a renewed focus on outreach.
The Mission Developers Retreat on Jan. 16-19. Pray that our church planters and their families would be refreshed and strengthened at the retreat.
Pray for the Church Planters Assessment Center on Feb. 20-23. Pray that God will raise up well-qualified candidates to plant new ARP churches.

  • We are starting to meet people in our community. We have connected with four families and three of them have prayed and decided to join our core, the other one is still praying about the matter.
  • Monica and I are making attempts to build relationships with our neighbors. We’re going to host a gathering at our home so they can come and fellowship and get to know us as well as give us a chance to know more about them.
  • We have a meeting place in the conference room of the Hilton, but they will have some Sundays that are already reserved, so we are praying that we can get into a school. We have already made contact with the school district and they do allow churches to meet in their schools; it’s just a matter of finding a school close to our target location.

Pray for:

  • our closer relationship with Christ - deeper devotion & prayer life!
  • wisdom & spiritual discernment for pastoring NMCC
  • us to be strong stewards of God’s resources
  • that we will be spiritual leaders with integrity
  • 25 families to start worship on Easter Sunday

  • Continue to pray for the monthly youth gatherings we are hosting.
  • Using meeting space at the local Christian school requires 100% approval from the school board. While I don’t think this will be a problem, it is a hurdle that will need to be overcome.
  • In the opening verses of Colossians 4, Paul asks for prayer that God would open doors for the ministry of the word. He also asks for prayer that he would be clear in presenting the word when such opportunities arose. Pray for me that as I continue to lead in chapel at Fideles, and as I begin preparing for studies on Sunday evenings, that the Lord will open doors for His word to go forth, and that I will be clear in proclaiming it.

  • Pray for the Embers to a Flame Conference taking place at Back Creek ARP Church in Charlotte on Nov. 2-4. Approximately 65 churches will be represented; about 35 of them are ARP. Pray that God will use the conference to strengthen and encourage many churches.
  • Pray for wisdom for the ONA board as they meet on Nov. 13-14.
  • Pray for ways your own church can participate in the Synod-wide Evangelism Emphasis Month in January. Synod urges each church to find ways they can reach out to their community during the month of January. Pray and make plans now.
