Why you should have a website?

If nothing else it’s a good way to spread the word about your church in your community or elsewhere.

Who should do my website?

It’s important that your site look as professional as possible. Even
though one may find a lot of “user-friendly” options out there, be aware that many of these are generally very limiting in what you will be able to do with your website. When you look for someone to design your site, be sure to ask them for examples of their work and when getting quotes be sure that your website needs are understood.

The importance of a domain
name
-

The two main reasons you should register a domain name are the following:

1.) Your website name is easier to remember when telling people. A lot of so-called “free web site hosting services” are just subdirectories of another site that requires you to advertise for that site in some way.

2.) A consistent e-mail address - A registered domain name allows you to keep the same email address even when you change internet service providers.

To see an example of a website of an ARP Church visit the website of Unity ARP in Piedmont, SC. (It’s my church!) The costs and services are donated by SpinningSilk Multimedia.

   Free antivirus software

You never know when you will need protection against computer virues. Some of the most popular anti-virus software does cost and even includes a yearly subscription. However for many that’s yet another added expense. Yes, it’s more than worth it if it protects you from a major “infection” but there is a free solution and therefore no excuse for not being protected from the viruses that are out there. Grisoft provides AVG Anti-Virus as a free download. We use it in the office and it works quite well and has caught and removed the few virues that have come our way. AVG now has a new version of their software (7.0) that they are charging for but for the time being they are supporting the free version.

Free firewall software.

Zone Alarm (They push a paid version up front so look carefully)
